What is the Hero's eXperience
|
The Hero’s eXperience is an educational interactive storytelling game which forms the basis of all of the programs operated by eXperience, Inc. While there are many variations of The Hero’s eXperience, which are discussed below, we would like to give you an idea of the basics.
The Hero’s eXperience is just that: a chance for your child to discover, experience, and nurture the hero within. Children are empowered to create a unique archetypal character in an epic setting and then join with a group of other heroic characters, created by their fellow Questers, and experience an epic adventure. Every Quest is designed to stimulate the imagination, challenge the mind, and exercise the body. We include mental challenges, physical challenges, and social challenges in each Quest. These can include riddles and memory games, Swasher™ Dueling games and improvised obstacle courses, delicate negotiations or desperate persuasions, and much more! |
|
| Storytelling is the means by which these amazing adventures are created. The oldest form of education available to us, and still one of the best, we use storytelling to teach, to play, and to learn. Each group of children works with a Quest Leader who is trained in storytelling techniques both ancient and specialized to our system. They guide the story by creating each scene, role playing the characters with whom the children interact, and explaining the results of each action that a child chooses for their character. However they do not force the children to follow a specific storyline: each scene is presented as it makes sense based on the actions of the children. Thus, if children in a Fantasy Quest program are presented with a storyline in which a good king asks for their help to solve the mystery of a terrible garbage monster that has been causing chaos and destruction in his city, they can choose to agree or to turn down his offer. For more information about how our staff are selected and trained, click here. Education, of course, consists of much more than just the challenges described above which are included within the story, and we go the extra length to make sure that your child is learning from our Quest just as much as they are enjoying it. Questing is designed to teach problem solving skills by introducing problems into a Quest and then guiding the children toward discovering their own solutions. It teaches communication by example, as all of our staff are trained in healthy communication skills, and by inclusion in the Quest. It teaches team building: each Quest Group must work together, valuing the skills of each individual character and the input of each child, in order to complete their Quest. Along with these vital skills, we include lessons in science, math, language, literature, history, mythology, and so much more! | |

Like all of our programs, Fantasy Quest is designed as an educational program as well; children are encouraged to practice reading, problem solving, and higher order thinking skills as they work their way through the unique adventure that they help to create!
Ages 6 to 14
Star Quest
Star Quest takes place among the stars, where children become daring space adventurers in a science fiction universe. Encounters with alien races, space pirates, and never before discovered planets are commonplace in this exciting Quest world. A whole galaxy awaits exploration by the daring Questers in Star Quest.
Star Quest focuses on science education, and children are faced with science challenges and facts throughout the story in a setting that is uniquely encouraging and memorable. In many longer Star Quests, the adventure will include a hands on science challenge or experiment.
Ages 6 to 14
Power Quest
In Power Quest children are invited to create a character that is more powerful than those available in other programs and re-explore Orania as a member of a secret society upon Orania. They must protect the idyllic quest world from the greater forces of darkness through cunning, strength, and team work – or all will be lost!
Power Quest is designed for those children who are ready to test their own limits and the limits given them by the world. It provides a safe, nurturing arena for them to explore rebellion and power. Power Quest is for older children who have experience with other Questing programs.

Pegasus Quest
Princesses, unicorns, fairies, and talking animals; sound like Fantasy Quest? Well it is! This variation on the ever popular Fantasy Quest allows the out numbered girls to band together in a Quest oriented toward the feminine side of fantasy adventure!
For girls only! Pegasus Quest is for girls to get together, bond, play, adventure, and interact with themselves, each other, and a female Quest Leader. It is a variation of Fantasy Quest which was developed to give girls a safe place to be themselves and experience the adventure with other girls.
Ages 6 to 14; Girls Only!
History Quest
History Quest turns children into guardians of time itself. In History Quest every program begins in a far future; but the children are a part of a group of time travelers who must preserve the flow of history. In order to do this, children are taught a different period in history for each Quest: they must know who did what, when, where and why. Then the adventure begins! Villains from an alternate future are attempting to sway the flow of time, and every heroic child must preserve it.
History Quest introduces historic events in a memorable, exciting way: children must study them and then live them through the words of one of our master storytellers! We aim to learn, teach, and live history with this exciting program.
Ages 8 to 14
Mage Quest
Some brave adventurers choose to forsake the use weapons of all kinds and enter the Mage Academy, where magic and mystery truly go hand in hand and adventure waits around every twisting stair.
Mage Quest is Swasher™ free Fantasy Questing, where children must rely on their characters magic and their own minds for every adventure.
Mage Quest is offered when, for whatever reason, Swashers™ are not an option. This is a variation of Fantasy Quest that sometimes allows us to offer Quest to children or in locations where it is not possible to use Swashers™.

Super Quest
Super Heroes are never commonplace, but in the early part of the 20th century a team of heroes will arise to battle the forces of the super villains of the world. Super Quest lets your children be unique and super-powerful heroes who use their powers for the forces of good! Whether flying, super strength, or bizarre genetic mutations as yet uncreated, Super Heroes are always uniquely fun!
Super Quest is a comic book adventure come to life – so when children play, they get to create their own comic book! Art classes and Questing rolled into one, Super Quest doesn’t end when a child heads home: their comic book and it’s hero lives on!
Ages 8 to 14
Leadership Experience Training
The LET program is very different from our other programs. It is designed to teach advanced leadership, conflict resolution, and storytelling skills. After a teen has attended the LET training week they can attend other Quest programs as a junior councilor for a discounted rate.
